One of Suzhou’s biggest international community events returns for its 22nd year

The beer will be flowing and the lederhosen coming out again this October as DUSA Oktoberfest returns to the shores of Dushu Lake for two nights of Bavarian food, live music and, naturally, plenty of beer.

Now in its 22nd year, Oktoberfest is the flagship annual event of the DUSA European Association and has become a fixture on Suzhou’s international community calendar.

And this isn't a small hotel Oktoberfest. More than 1,600 people attended over two nights in 2025, getting through an impressive 3,300 litres of Bavarian beer, 2,000 sausages, 1,500 pretzels, 300 pork knuckles and 80 suckling pigs.

Back in the big tent

This year the festival returns to the traditional Oktoberfest tent overlooking Dushu Lake at Kempinski Hotel Suzhou, with DUSA promising upgraded food, equipment and service for the 2026 edition.

The format remains reassuringly traditional: long communal tables, Bavarian food, free-flow beer, live music and a crowd drawn from across Suzhou's international and local communities.

The scale isn't new either. The 20th DUSA Oktoberfest in 2024 attracted almost 2,000 people over three days, despite two typhoons forcing that year's celebration indoors at short notice.

Food, Beer & Music

Adult admission includes a Bavarian buffet, free-flow beer from Munich Brewery and a souvenir beer mug.

Providing the live soundtrack this year will be Hi 4 with the four-piece band performing in the traditional tent before a local DJ takes over from 9:30 PM until 10:30 PM.

Expect the usual Oktoberfest mix of eating, drinking, singing, dancing and making friends with whoever happens to be sitting at the other end of your table.
