Jazz meets contemporary art for a special evening at Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art.
Four musicians will perform music inspired by works from the museum’s “Picasso and His Influence on the World” exhibition, turning the rhythms, colours and forms of the artworks into a live jazz experience.
The international line-up features New York saxophonist and composer Alec Haavik, Azerbaijani pianist and composer Tural Ali, JZ Music bassist Bai Yang, and New York-trained drummer and composer Lin Sinan.
Alec Haavik is conductor and musical director of Shanghai’s JZ Big Band and has performed at jazz festivals in China and internationally. Tural Ali is a composer, producer and jazz pianist from Azerbaijan, currently active in Shanghai. Bai Yang performs with the JZ Big Band and a number of other jazz projects, while Lin Sinan, a graduate of The New School in New York, brings influences including Afro-Cuban and West African rhythms.
Set inside Suzhou’s new contemporary art museum, the one-hour performance forms part of the museum’s National Day programme.

Chinese bassist and JZ Music artist, active with the JZ Big Band and other jazz projects.

Drummer and composer, and a graduate of The New School in New York, with influences spanning Afro-Cuban and West African rhythms.
How to Book
Advance reservation required
Reservations are made through the Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art (苏州当代美术馆) WeChat Mini Program.
Search “苏州当代美术馆” in WeChat, open the official Mini Program and find Jazz Night / 立体音画——美术馆里的爵士夜 under the activities section.
Capacity: 40 people
The audience area has no seating. Check-in opens 30 minutes before the performance.
Reserved places are held until 19:00. After that, unclaimed places may be released to people waiting at the venue. Those without reservations may also wait for any available places or watch from the surrounding area.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Each attendee, including accompanying adults and children, requires a separate reservation.
